1. With Jim Garrison and 1 visited the Census Bureau at 25X1A9a
Suitland, Maryland, and observed the typing machine in operation. It FOIAb3b1
is a combination of an IBM electric typewriter (modified) and a flexowriter
and uses the original teletype tape to produce stencils. This has great promifzrlAb3b1
and, if successful, will eliminate 75 per cent of the Myping and at the
same time double or triple the speed of production.
3. telephoned to request that I meet with John Bross at noon
on Monday, 8 July, to discuss our budget projection. He will try to get some
information to me before that time which might help in the discussions.
4. I talked with Jack Earman about the appointment of a CIA Employment
Policy Officer, and he suggested who will get in touch with me
sometime Monday, 8 July, to discuss the matter further.
5. 1 discussed the MKDELTA aspects of Project MKULTRA with Jack
Earman and urged him to have a talk with Dr. Tietjen on this subject before he
closes his TSD report of inspection. He assured me that he would do this.

6. was in to say good-by. He is leaving with a generally 25X1 A9a
good taste in his mouth but said that he had been disappointed in some respects.
He asked me if I could tell him why he was never considered for any job other
than that in the Office of the Inspector General. He said that he didn't mind
this type of thing for a while, but he felt that 7 1/2 years was too long and was
disappointed in that he had never been used in any other capacity. He apologized
for asking me this question. I told him that I would be glad to answer it if I could

but it was a fact that I could not. (I had assumed that he was hired to be in the
Inspector General's office and, in all honesty, it had never occurred to me
that he even wanted to have other assignments.) I told him that, lest he feel
think this helped very much. He said that he would be interested at some time
in the future in contract employment if any came along. I told him that I would
certainly keep this in mind and, if we had any requirements for his services,
I would get in touch with him.
