Approved For Egease 2000/09/ DP76-00183R900300010080-4 EW DIARY NOTES DD S 14 March 1958 1. At the Deputies' Meeting: a. The Director discussed the events of the National Security Council Meeting of Thursday. Generally speaking, everything went very well and the President seemed to strengthen our position by indicating that he very definitely looked to CIA to coordinate all national intelligence. The pro posed revision of NSCID #7 was deferred and a joint report in connection 25X1A9a fense and the f D r would have anything to do with writing cables to enter cable writing prior to their departure. He also instructed to send out a very short but terse cable to the field directing that cables be shorter and more concise. c. In a discussion of Mr. Stans' appointment as Director of the Budget it was agreed that we should arrange to brief him as soon as he could spare the time. 2 I aske to see that the ramp at the entrance to the Administra- e therewith is to be submitted on 1 May by me Secretary o Director of Central Intelligence. (I have passed this on to _) The possible merger of USCIB and the IAC was brought up. Appar- ently the President indicated that he felt these two bodies should be brought together. The proposal is to be studied and reported on in about six months. b. The Director stated that he wanted all officers going to the field who n courses in 25X1A9a t tion Building was fixed. It has been in a state of disrepair for some three to four months. 25X1A9a would like to recommend 3, telephoned to say that he and that we not push any further in trying to get the Office of Logistics to accept the Ramac it t i i o on t (305) machine at this time inasmuch as they were fearful that their oppos would cause It to be a failure. He suggested that we go ahead and see what we could work out with the Offices of Personnel and the Comptroller and come back to Logistics later. I accepted this recommendation and will meet with Messrs. - and Garri- son on Monday at which time I shall also direct that a complete management study of the Office of Logistics be undertaken without delay.
