MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD to publish, Intelligence in agree Secret . I was able to read the letter only very hastily. i. During the Educational Aid Fund Board Meeting on 14 Septem- ber 1966, rhowedme a letter he had recently received from Lyrnan Kirkpatrick in which Kirk discussed the book he proposes Z. The gist of the letter was as follows: Kirk said that he had subi-pitted the first draft of his book to the McMillan Publishing Com- pany and that they had called to congratulate him on a great book and say that they indeed want to pablish; it. He went on to say that the Agency knows about the book because it had been mentioned during his recent appearance on a Washington television program ("Here's Barbara" with Barbara Coleman on Wednesday.' 17 August, at 10:30 a. m. , Station i'TMAL). He said that has a 25X1A9a. copy of the manuscript and asked Matt to get this copy from George 25X1A9a read it, and give him his comments. He said that he intends 25X1A9a to ask to do the same thing. He also said that he does not want to have the book floating around the Agency just yet.
