Report and Recommendations of the CIA Transliteration Committee
1. Attached herewith is a copy of a report to AD/OO from
the Chairman of the CIA Transliteration Committee, including
recommendations of the Committee insofar as progress has been
made to date. It is the desire of the Chairman that I, as the
ORE. representative on the Committee, forward this report and
recommendations to you in anticipation of consideration of these
recommendations by the Assistant Directors for Operations,
Collection and Dissemination, Reports and Estimates, and Special
Operations, and Chief, ICAPS.
2. The present report and recommendations cover work .
completed so far. The work of the Committee continues with the
ultimate aim of developing uniform transliteration procedures
within CIA, and, if possible, among the IAC agencies, for
transliteration of all languages requiring special systems.
