Otepka case have been transferred to new jobs within the Department but said this action did not repre- sent any demotion for the six. Otepka, former chief se- curity evaluator for the De- partment, wag fired for in- subordination. H e has a p.- pealed the action. Otepka was suspended Sept. 23, 1963, and charged with con- duct "unbecoming an officer of the Department of State" by allegedly h a v i n g given senate n erna security committee. He was dismissed from his $18,240-a-year post Nov. 5 when the Department. upheld the charges against him. The six State Department men, all of them security evaluators, were transferred from the Bureau of Security to the Bureau of Inter-Ameri-, can Affairs, where they have to carry out a "top secret job."
