Senator.Pulbright and numerous of his colleagues were understandably
ups . sy ....-S e ;c.aange. But made a voluntary appearance before
oreign Relations Cor:Th :cce and explained that the letter itself was
d'ty a subordinate and that he--He= s--signed it without recognizing
its usl sign_~icance. That s erred to satisfy everyone--with the possible
ex:: -ion o Wayne Morse--and crisis is over.
We can't resist saying, however, that as we said in an editorial in
_hiay, ti.c idea of having Foreign Relations represented on the watchdog
committee seems a quite good one. It's unfortunate that the proposal has
been rejected.
This was a WTOP Editorial, jack Jurey speaking for WTOP.
