of international affairs of the
Bnci Brith, that he is proud that
anti-Semitism in South Africa has
abated since the Nationalist
Government came to power in
1948.
Air, Joftes paid a courtesy call
on Dr. Verwoerd in Cape Town
this week, '
Dr. Verwoerd told Mr. Joftes
that Jews of South Africa had
contributed a lot to the country,
and would continue to do so.
The Bnei Brith is an inter-
national Jewish lodge and welfare
organisation with headquarters in
America.
Mr. Joftes Is in South Africa
to establish new Bnei Brith
lodges.
"The Bnel Brith concerns itself
not only with Jewish charitable
work, but also with the safe-
guarding of human rights, no
matter where they may be
violated," Mr. Joftes, said. "The
