SUBJECT : Soviet Space Film
1. FYI, I have prepared the attached memorandum on
the acquisition of the Soviet space film from in
This is in response to a specific request by
Wchief of the Film Branch, OCR, who would like to be
assured that the classification of the film is merely SECRET.
Apparently the CI Staff is looking over his shoulder and had
the mistaken im ression that the film was obtained through
DDP sources in and was classified NO FARM.
2. I informed of -request and
was again reassured that the substantive content of the Soviet
space film is unclassified and this is further confirmed by
AS2 . Gene mentioned that he classified the
film SECRET merely because of the manner in which it was
obtained. You know the story, and the background cable and
dispatch are attached for any details you may wish.
