I had never contemplated service with the State
Department and I must confess that I take on the new
job with a great deal of humility. The fact That you

me adds to the courage which I think I shall badly
need.
I am sure that in my new responsibilities I will
have close contacts with the Central Intelligence
Agency, and I lock forward very much to working with
you and your staff.
