6. Met with Mr. Phil Kelleher, House
Armed Services Committee, who advised that floor action on Committee
legislation will continue to keep him tied up through the middle of next
week. It is hoped at that time that we can start meeting, at the staff
level, on proposed legislation. --
.7. I I Met briefly with Mr. Robert Michaels,
House ApprvTrrramnsGVrrarresee, who advised that the morning briefing
had gone well and that other than a matter of additional information to be
provided by Mr. John Clarke, D/PPB, there are no staff follow-ups
from this meeting. He noted that the question did not arise concerning the
next date for meeting with the Subcommittee.
8. I I Received a request from Representative
Ogden Reid, vr-~rrrvxrr~v~r~ on Vietnamese casualties. After checking
with the Office of DD/I, the information was furnished to his staff
assistant, Miss Pat Meo. See Memorandum of Record for details.
10. Called J. Sourwine, Senate Internal Security,
and asked if he could give me any estimate on when will come up for
a hearing. Sourwine thought that there would probably be no hearing since
the testimony is all in from the hearings. Sourwine thinks a report
will be written on this and the bill will then go to the full Committee. He
assured me that nothing would take place within the next week but felt
certain there would be action by the end of the month.
