MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, General Services
SUBJECT s IBM Position Control Register
1. The Machine Records Branch of your office has cooperated
with this Office in making test runs of Table of Organization
listings by which the present listing of T/O position :information
is matched against personnel information in order to secure an
IBM Position Control Register.
2. These tests have proven the usefulness and feasibility of
this idea and it is now desired to set up this project on a formal
basis with the objective that'of extending this register to cover
all departmental, U.S. and foreign field T/O t s.
3. Such a register would be issued in lieu of the present
quarterly listing and would, contain in addition to the present T/O
information, the name, series, grade, slot number and career desig-
nator of the incumbent.
4. As an immediate objective, this office is desirous of
issuing the next quarterly listing for the Office of Communications,
the Office of Training and DD/I and DD/A offices in this form if
practicable.
5. Any assignment or other information which your Machine
Records Branch is lacking will be furnished by this Office as re-
quested.
