DAILY Woi i 1f 1 1 Sanitized - Approved For Releas `4CIA-RDP70-00058R000'100040031-2 HOMAGE TO -MURDER h7tST , the Saturday Evening rost t speea an advertising blurb across the country: It was the upcoming story of "Allen ill .s rother of the Secretary of State), chief of our espionage organization, the Central Intelli- gence Agency. Here's the story of his colorful career-his part ... in the overthrow of Mossadegh in Iran, and in the Communist defeat in. Guatemala...." Yesterday, the New York Times carried a dispatch from Guatemala which could well serve as the postscript to the cynical advertisement. The Times report revealed that four months after the violent seizure of power by the Castillo Armas regime not a single labor union or peas- ants' organization has been permitted to function. This report was preceded by a dispatch which an- nounced that Castillo Armas had .condemned 20 political prisoners to death before the firing squad, many of then labor leaders. The story is similar in Iran, where Dulles also acted so "colorful" a part. Hussei i- Fatemi, former Iranian for- eign minister, was executed: Isis sole "crime" was that he had opposed the stealing of Irani s vast oil resources by Brit- ish and U. S. combines. The American people can do `much to stop these hor- Tors by protesting to the State Department and to the Iran- ian and Guatemalan embassies. Our labor movement, es- pecially the AFL leadership which joined in the campaign against Arbenz regime, has a special responsibility to speak out against the slaughter of life and liberty.
