2. A review of our limited SAS order of battle
a reveals that there are no known SA-x2 sites within
of the proposed route, although, Chinese SAM
deployment tactics are such that a SAM threat could be
encountered. Similarly, there are no U0-49#s or Mig*,21's
at - the known airfields on or near the proposed route, The
nearest airfield (125 now.} with these aircraft is Meng Tzu
Airfield West (23-24N/103-192) wh has 20 Migr-19' a and
25X1 3 MiG. 21's (date of information A MiG reaction
is therefore a possibility in this area..
3. Although we are not able to a uratsly assess the
threat levels over the proposed route (2007), it is believed
that a limited fighter reaction in a distinct possibility in
the Meng-Tzu area with a lesser possibility that a SAS threat
may be encountered. In the event that a WM threat is
encountered employing the Chinese modified FAN SCE B the
previous encounter with the modified SA-2 system.
