4 January 1966
1. I called John Richardson to advise that the DCI would be unable to
give the opening address to the Midcareer Course because of an appointment
at the Pentagon. Mr. Richardson is going to try to set up a later date for
the WN k to the class. Later, it was suggested that this t lace
so that the DCI could review and inspect 25X1A
d I briefed the DCI at 3:15 p.m. following his
return from vacation. We did not go into any details of DD/S problems and
activities but did have a general discussion on broad objectives of the DD/S.
There was insufficient time to conduct such a briefing and part of the time
available was spent in a general discussion of Agency interests. The DCI
did request action on an item referred to as "Army Quick Reaction Capabilities"
and he requested a briefing to assure him of the efficiency of our personnel,
technical, and physical security programs. The latter are the subject of a
separate memorandum.
3. The Executive Director requested the designation of a DD/S Employ-25X1A
ment Policy Officer to work with Frank Chapin. A designation is in the process.
