MINUTES OF THE GEOGRAPHIC RESEARCH AREA STAFF MEETING, 11 FEBRUARY 1959
PRESENT:
1. Distribution of UNCLASSIFIED Reports Outside the Agency
Chief/G reported that purely factual UNCLASSIFIED reports may now
be distributed outside the Agency. Also, strictly factual reports
classified FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY may be given to outside parties if
it is to our net advantage to do so.
2. Exploitation of AAG Meetings for Ready-Reserve Listing
25X1A9a Chief/G noted a suggestion of that attendance at
the AAG Meetings will afford an opportunity of obtaining prospects in
25X1A9a the GS-7 and GS-9 category for inclusion in the Ready-Reserve Listing.
indicated that a plan would be developed in this matter
following the selection of GRA people to attend the meetings.
3. Studies in Intelligence
Chief/G called the group's attention to the latest issue of
Studies in Intelligence and recommended that they read it. There are
quite a few interesting articles, among which are several of the papers
presented at the 25X1 X7'
4. Questions Regarding CIA Career Staff
Chief/G distributed to the group a list of questions regarding the
CIA Career Staff on which answers are desired by the Inspector General
to assist him in his survey of the Office of Personnel. The group
discussed the questions at some length. will draw up the 25X1A9a
GRA reply based on the discussion.
5. IGU Meeting in Stockholm
Chief, D/GL, reported that he had heard from several quarters that
registration and reservations for the IGU Meetings should be made as
25X1A9a early as possible. will check on this further and report back
25X1A9a to Chief/G. no ed that anyone going to Europe on their own
could probably get official leave while attending the meetings.

6. AAG Meetings
Chief/G reported that nominations for attendance at the AAG
Meetings had been received from D/GG. He asked that D/GC and D/GL
submit their nominations as soon as possible.
