Policy Statement Regarding World Directory of Geographers As discussed at Staff Meeting of 8 April, Chief/G stated he had prepared a memorandum to all GRA personnel explaining who could submit the questionnaire for inclusion of their names in the World Directory of Geographers. It was brought out that the memo applies only to this Directory. asked that any questions regarding this policy be referred to him or brought to his attention. 3. IPC Lists Chief/G indicated he had seen the newly issued IPC lists for USSR and Albania. It was noted that,in both cases, our "mapping and geodesy" requirement had been placed in Priority l.C. However 25X1A9a questioned the statement placed in the Albanian list; admitted 25X1A9a it was one which we could not defend. This was discussed, 25X1 A9a asked that -take steps to assure more accurate statements in IPC 25X1 A9c' Requirements. ~+. Procurement of 1:300,000 maps of the USSR There was some discussion as to the means presently being taken in efforts to procure 1:300,000 scale maps of the USSR. Chief/G indicated it is possible that this scale map is being used by the Russians in their agricultural planning. He suggested that it might be a good idea to try to contact people in positions connected with agricultural planning, research, and other activities, in an effort to procure these maps. GRA Relationships with X1 A9a 25X1A9a Chief/G reported that had talked with him about GRA relationships with ONE. had met with of ONE, who 25X1A9a suggested it might be a good idea to have a Geographer sit in when maps are requested from D/GC by ONE personnel. Though this appears to be a good suggestion, it was felt that it would not work out in everyday 25X1A9a circumstances, especially in view of the fact that many such requests are made by phone. asked that D/GG personnel be encouraged to attend meetings on NIE's which are announced in memos we receive on NIE's in progress. 6. Briefing Program in ORR Chief/G asked for suggestions for improvement in handling the Briefing Program in ORR, which had been discussed at the 8 April Staff Meeting. Chief, D/GL, suggested that those responsible for setting up briefings call each division, giving the person's name, where he is going, and his position, and let the division decide whether they wish to brief. Chief, D/GG, commented that there seemed to be much better returns from briefings given to people already in the field by our people on TDY's. 25X1A9a It was agreed that unless there was some specific gain seen by higher officials in ORR, suggestion seemed quite valid. will take this matter up with the AD. 25X1A9a Sanitized - Approved For Releas gZ DP62-006808000100320014-8
