As I believe you knor, a series of nuclear tests rill be
held at the Nevada Test Site in the near future. In arrder
to afford certain government officials an opportunity to
keep abreast of developments in the i eapons field, the
Commission with the Department of Defense is arranging an
official observer program. On behalf of the Commission I
would like to invite you to attend.
Four observer trips are scheduled: The first to depart
Washington about June 13th; the second June 25th; the third
July 7th; and the fourth July 23rd. It is planned that ob-
server parties will leave Washington aboard a special mission
aircraft about two days ahead of the scheduled date of the
shot, be in the forward area about two to five days, and then
return. In all, the time away from Washington would be about
one week.
Because accommodations at the Test Site are limited, I would
aupreciate early information ns to whether you can attend and,
if so, the period or periods convenient. If you plan to
attend, further details will be supplied.
