Deputy Director for Science & Technology Deputy Director for Support General Counsel Inspector General SUBJECT : Reduction of Security Violations 1. At a meeting of the Senior Staff recently it was pointed out that there has been a sharp increase in the number of security violations since the move to the Len gley building. In 1962 the number of security violations increased to increase over the previous year. In 1963 the number grew Z. Obviously, an intelligence organization must function in accord- ance with strict security standards. I therefore request an immediate and concerted effort to reduce these numbers of security violations. 3. Security is a basic command and supervisory responsibility, and I ask that each of you work closely with supervisors to reduce the number of security violations. The most obvious need is for closer supervision of the after-hours security checks and improving the security consciousness of our employ***. 4.
