Approved For Release 2003/05/05 : CIA-RDP80BO1676R000 Executive Regi~tiy CHARLES B. STAUFFACHER CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF TRUSTEES CARL F. STOVER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Sinc rely, March 12, 1965 The Honorable Lyman B. Kirkpatrick Executive Director Central Intelligence Agency 2430 E Street, N. W. Stop 64 Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Kirkpatrick: As you may know, a number of friends and members of public affairs organizations in which the late Louis Brownlow played a vital role in his lifetime have organized a Memorial Fund in his honor. The Fund will be used to support under- takings appropriate to his memory in which Mr. Brownlow would have had an interest. A prospectus describing the Fund and its administration is enclosed. AREA CODE 202 347-5033 A Louis Brownlow Memorial Fund Committee has been appointed to assist in the task of raising funds and advise on their use as a fitting memorial to a beloved friend, teacher, and pioneer in public administration. The Committee consists of only a small fraction of the host of people who were "Brownie's" personal friends and who are identified with organizations and causes to which he devoted his life and energies, one of which, of course, was the National Institute of Public Affairs. The American Society for Public Administration has agreed to serve as administrator of the Fund and contributions should be sent to them. As you will see, the Public Admini- stration Service is offering gift sets of the Brownlow books to those making the first 200 contributions. The request form for the gift books should be sent directly to PAS. Many of "Brownie's" friends have been expectantly await- ing this appeal to be organized. I hope you are one of those who will respond generously. P.S. If you receive duplicate appeals, please understand that it has not been feasible to prepare a central mailing list in view of the many persons and organi- zations cooperating in this Fund.
