The attached GAPS IN I?tTIC1T statement is one of a series which Is denIgned to furnish collectors with guidance for collecting and repcrti on priority gaps in those econcsric and geographic fields for which C/ CIA has intelligence production responsibilities under NSCID 1 and FSSCID 2. The Priority National Intelligence Objectives (DCID 1/3) indicates the relative priorities of the fields. 2. When completed, this new series will Provide for the first time a eysteeitic coverage of CBR?s priority intelligence needs in each field by country or geographic area. Each gap statement is compiled after a survey of material from all sources, as siced in the RAOKOR . Each will be revised periodically in light of responsive reporting and developing intelligence problems. 3. Each statement includes priority gaps CVLY and is intended to supplement general guides, ad hoe and source-oriented requirements. As such, it does not represent total intelligence needs. Neither does it include priority subjects on which adequate information is currently available. Therefore, the gap statement should not be used as a basis for discontinuing reporting. Spdoific, ad hoc or source-oriented requirements and evaluations will continue to be provided as appropriate. 4. The attached statement presents Cdr's priority gaps in infor- mation on the Hungarian ferrous, metallurgical industry.
