1. PURPOSE: To establish procedures which will, insure andardized and com-
prehensive pre-gnission briefings prior to all flights inir )lvirg aircraft
assigned to this unit.
2. SCO.F'E: This procedure is applicable to personnel., f-? n .-r, aircraft assi,#;red
to this unit.
3. PROCEDURES:
a. Pre mission briefings will be conducted separately for support, type
aircraft and for -chase aircraft.
(1) Support type aircraft sorties: The Operaticn:.7 Duty Officer or
Base Operations Officer will brief the pilot on all matters pertaining to his
flight. This briefing need not be tape recorded.
(2) and chase aircraft sortie: Pre-rnission briefing for sortie
scheduled in accordance with unit training plan will be conducted in the DCO
Briefing Roca at the time indicated on the daily schedule. Briefings will be
tape recorded and tape retained for a minimzum of fourteen (14) days.
(3) For refu flights on other than chl'W' sorties, the Base
Operations Officer or Briefing Officer will , responsible to brief the
pilots in accordance w paragrap!. 3a(4) below. Briefing will be canpieted
in the Base Operations Briefing room and will be tape recorded. The tape
recording may be erased after the days flaring activity has mean cceipleted
safely. In the event of an accident/incid.ent the tape recording ?i ill be .im-
pounded and forwarded to the Flying Safety Officer for u e in a y e ubs quent
investigation.
(4) The following mandatory items will he covered. qt, each briefing.
(a) Weather: (For ducat i (,n of f'l ight )
1. Existing and forecast, terminal. area.
2. Route weather (Flying, area)
1. Briefing will be given by Weather Officer for all.. sorties.
This SOP supersedes SOP 5O-3055-11, 12 Nov 65 and Amend 1, 1- Oct 64.

b. Specialized Mission Briefings;
(1) F01O17, T-33, C-130, U-3B and H-43 aircra_rt: In addition to .h .
pre-mission briefing, the pilot designated on flight r.:;iler? as aircraft casn-ender
will be responsible for specialized mission briefings. briefing will include
the following items:
(a) Special briefing on techniques used during,1 scheduled train%.xrg
activity.
(b) Applicable emergency procedures.
(c) For the T--33,, complete power loss lxonedia,ic y after becoming
airborne, low altitude ejection and normal ejection wi.l1. be 'cessed.
(2) F-101 aircraft.,
(a) For fonr .lion flight,. The designated. t leader will be
responsible for conducting the specialized mission ba?irv;f?..ra a a

(1) Debriefing for each -sortie flown wi-A.,' be conducted in th,
Operations Debriefing Roan. Debriefings will be tape :rc>?:'(r ..,, and the tape
retained for a minimum of fourteen (14) days.
(2) Debriefings will be conducted in two p}va.seea:
(a) Phase I: Will. cover all materiel and -.,,support areas.
1. The DOOM representative (Debriefing Officer ) will conduct
the debriefing and will. cover items oof general inter est.
2. Individual :=,; ateias 1--r yonrlel will be responsible for
specialized debriefing of their system and completion of r:ecessary forms,
required corrective actions, and maintenance of necessary records.

The Debriefing Officer will materiel ?u.ppor?t

(b) Phase II: Will cover operational prohiern3 and/or discrepancies.
