1. I had lunch today with John Iynch and Bill Downs
of ABC. I told them that we could not now accept their
proposition, although I commended them for the thoughtful-
ness of the letter and the proposal. I informed them that
I have to get a change in policy to do something like this
and I was prepared to work on it over the next few months.
I further said that if it were decided to do something of
this kind? we would give them "first crack" at it. They
seemed content.
2. Please continue to study this matter. Mean-
while, we will do nothing of this kind with axr television
compar~r.
