THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
. In early September 1951, pamphlets began to appear among employees of 25X1
a Sofia railway depot referring to the miserable existence they lead
by virtue of the norms demanded of them and the meagerness of their
wages when compared to the cost of living. These pamphlets had a con-
siderable effect, and the railwaymen came very near to striking before
the militia was warned of their frame of mind. The arrival of a militia
detachment to restore discipline led to a fight, the railwaymen attacking
the militia with crow bare when the latter were unsympathetic to their
grievances.
2. Subsequently, it was discovered that the person responsible for the
pamphlets was the manager of the depot who had typed them himself in the
privacy of his office.
