As you know, e:ecept in unusual cases when the Agency
requests an employee to remain in active service, it is our
policy to encourage employees to retire voluntarily when
eligible to do so. I understand that you will be eligible to
retire with full annuity at the end of this year.
I feel very stroiigly that your retirement at that time
would be a great loss to the Agency and to the intelligence
community. I should therefore appreciate very much your
consenting to remain in active service for another year.
I shall not ask you to commit your self for a longer period
of time. However, I should like to reserve the right to
request a further extension if this should appear to be in
the best interests of the Agency and, of course. if your
personal plans should permit.
I shall be grateaul for your favorable response.
