MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director (Intelligence)
1. At Mach today Deputy secretary Vance was high in
praise of the President's Checklist and told me that it was
the most helpful document that appeared on his desk from
the intelligence community that he had seen.
2. He pointed out that during the early stages of the
Johnson Administration it had limited Itself to only one or
two items that appeared to be on the front burner and did not
give him what he wanted. In recent months, however, he
found that It covered most of the trouble spots around the
world in clear, succinct. and "to-then-point" language and that
he found it most helpful.
