Between 0800 and 1500 on 24 January 1955, 42 MiG-15s and 3 Yak-11s,all of which were canvas-covered, were parked at Wiener Neustadt airfield. The "depression" could not be reconnoitered. There was no air activity. There was a 10/10 overcast at an altitude of about 1,500 meters which decreased to 3/10 after 1130, southeasterly wind of about 3 km/h, ground fog with visibility of about 750 meters in the morning and, later, to as Schneeberg. 1 The flight control station was ded by a sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. Sedan ar jeep and truck were seen in traffic. Apparently a MiG-15 with dismantled wings was parked at the aircraft repair shop northeast of the flight control station. No personnel was seen near the aircraft. Two wings and 3 large crates were seen at some distance. F---]2 2. A sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets was seen at the eastern garage and lean-to roofs. Six trucks, 3 Moskovich-type van-like trucks, 1trailer of a mobile flight control station, and 3 Stalin tractors were parked under the lean-to roofs. Three trucks and 2 tank trucks were par*ed in the open. Brick pillars, which had been constructed during the summer of 1954 about 100 meters south of the installation, were fitted with lean-to roofs. Construction and leteling equipment was stored there. The southern AA gun emplacement was unoccupied and no personnel was seen in the AA bunker area. About 20 motor vehicles were parked about 100 meters northwest of the southern AA gun emplacement. A cable leading to this parking area branched off the telephone line from Artillerie Kaserne along the road to Fischau, One lieutenant colonel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and 2 -25X1 majors wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets entered or left the western flight control station. Van-like t]UNC and truck were 25X1 seen in traffic there. The storage sheds in the area of the pyrotechnics plant were guarded by entry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. No personnel or vehicular traffic was seen at the installation. 3. The gates of the hangar at Theresienfeld were closed. Nine gray crates and a truck with hoisting gear were seen in front of the hangar. Two trucks and 3 van-like trucks were seen in the parking lot. There was no vehicular traffic. 4. The Artillerie Kaserne in Wiener Neustadt was guarded by a sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. Trucks entered or left the barracks installation. All radio installations, except for the radio installation consisting or various height and a radio truck, had been removed. The Artillerie Kaserne appeared to be the headquarters of Wiener Neustadt airfield. All telephone cables seen at the field come from the kaserne. Personnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets were repeatedly seen laying cables in the area of the barrabke installation. Small fences were recently erects in the area of the kaserne. The purpose of the fences is unknown. he Nachrichten Kaserne was guarded by a sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. Three trucks, 1 tank truck and 1 ee were parked under lean-to roof. in the barribke yard. Trucks with drivers and occupied by personne wear ng ac - or are blue epaulets left the installation. The cantonment west of Wiener Neustadt was guarded by a sentry wearing red-bordered black epaulets. Sixteen 37-mm AA guns and 22 tanks were seen in the cantonment. Van-like trucks with drovers wearing red-bordered black epaulets with artillery insign a entered the installation. 1. Comment. Wiener Neustadt airfield is still occupied by two Soviet fighter regiments. More MiG-15s were possibly parked in the depression in front of the pyrotechnics plant. 25X1 fr Comment.
