THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT 13 TENTATIVE, (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) Raw material requirements of the Resita Steel Combine (Sovrommetal) are as follows: a. Iron ores Iron ore is supplied by the Delinesti and Ocna de Fier mines located in close proximity to the Resita plant, As Rumanian ore pro. duotion is below 200,000 tons, the additional requirements of the plant are supplied by the USSR and are shipped up the Danube River by way of Orsova, b. Manganese: As the country's manganese production does not fulfill the requirements of Resita, the remainder is furnished by the USSR, a. Scrap irons Scrap iron is imported generally from Bulgaria, Poland, USSR de Nickel and molybdenums Import from the USSR* as Cokes Resita has two batteries with 40 ovens. The country's coke pro- duction is about 360,000 tons, while the Five Year Plan provides for 700,000 tons. Additional coke requirements are supplied by the USSR and Poland, f 1 Coal: The coal neodod by Resita for industrial. use is supplied by the Anina, Doman, Lupac, Sacu and Fetrosani mincs, g. Oils Oil is used to heat the tempering overs and comes from Ploesti, h., Machinery: The machinery used for iron and steel processing is also imported from the USSR, Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
