1. In late August'195J+, ~ ship was in Kola Inlet,I Ia
number of small naval vessels, including MTBs and PC-type vessels, in Vayenga
Bay (N 69-05, E 33-26).
2. In Rosta Shipyard, a large submarine with one gun forward of
the tower and six naval units of various types in different stages of fitting
out. Among them was a vessel about 250 feet in length with a sharp sheer and
a flushdeck. It had two'narrow slightly raked stacks set close together, one
mast with a yard arm, and an open bridge with a radar screen. (See sketch below.)
3. From 26 to 28 August, MIG fighters were observable almost constantly over the
southern portion of Kola Inlet. five to ten aircraft at 25X1
time, several of them towing targets. Much of the flying activity took place
in the direction northwest-southeast over the inlet just west of Vayenga Bay.
