In early November 1954, a direct approach to Strausberg airfield , 25X1
which bypassed the town of Strausberg, was under construction.
The extension of the elevated railroad from Strausberg railroad
station as far as the KVP installation was under way. 1
In early November, it was learned that the target dates for the
com letion of the buildings had largely been ezaesded. 25X1

alterations of the plans on the part of the KYP.
3. On 21 November, the administrative building of installation Ib
was completed. Garages and drivers' quarters were under
construction. 2
4. Building 3 in installation Seehaus, which was scheduled for
completion in late December 1954, will probably not be completed
by this time because of difficulties in the procurement of
material. 3
5. In mid-November, it was learned) I that
130 apartments were to he completed on Bad Strasse in Strausberg
by 1 December. The apartments were in two-story houses for
officers8 dependents. 4
6.
7.
installations were being built near Bad Saarow.
KYP underground
plan
19 November:

1956: numerous garages for trucks and sedans, a service station,
2 school buildings, and 60 quarters outside the
installation.
1957: Additional garages and quarters. 4 and 5
8. In late November, construction work ire the area of Armeagruppe
Nord made only little progress. It was estimated that-the
construction plan would be met only about 80 peroent by the end
of 1954? Difficulties regarding the procurement of aaterial and
workers would also further hamper the progress of construction
work. In addition, many young workers had left their working
place for jobs with better psy. In the area of Idechanisod Division
F~ggesin, it was expected that the garages, except for the roof
covering, would be completed by the end of the year. Work on the
work-shops and oil preheaters would, however, not be completed
prior to May or June 1955? Scheduled road construction work in
the installations of Spechtborg and Karpin will presumably be
completed by late December 1954, while only 10 percent of the
concrete areas seh?duled to be constructed in the parks will
be completed.
9. In late November, only 15,000,000 DM east of the requested sum
of 24,000,000 Dart east were allotted for installations of
Mechanised Division Eggesin in 1955. Only 40 percent of the
calculated coats for road constructions in Spechtberg and Karpin
were entered on the 1955 P1~?
Comment. Information on extension work on ~kie elevated
railroad was previously forwarded.
Comment. This is sector Ib of installation I "Seehaus"
which adjoins sector Ia to the southwest. It is assumed that
the sedan battalion still stationed in Adlershof and, possibly,
also elements of the truck regiment will be quartered th~gre.
Bu~~dling
No 3 is the socalled general staff building the interior
decoration of which was stopped on 20 November. since Walter
IIlbricht found it too luxurious.
4. I (Comment. Bad Strasse is located in the northern sector
of the town on the shore of Straus Lake in an area which is
scheduled for apartment buildings.
5. I_ (Comment. The garages are believed to have been planned
for sector Ib which was scheduled in early 1954 to have a total
of 266 bavs. The o~Ln was to be carriell through by late 1954?
