The most land that an independent farmer was permitted to have was 30 decares. In addition to other taxes, the independent farmers were obliged to surrender a portion of their produce. For each decare of the crop which had been cultivated, the farmer had to surrender 18 kilograms of wheat, 36 kilograms of corn, 100 kilo- grams of potatoes, 15 kilograms of beans, 148 kilograms of su?iflower seeds, 75' kilo- grams of tobacco, or 25 kilograms of oats.
