Sty) I I and John S. Warner
met with Representative Ogden Reid for approximately an hour and a half
and gave him a general current intelligence briefing. I also brought Mr.
Reid up to date, at his request, on Representative Moss' activities vis-a-vis
the Agency mentioning in addition the letter from Chairman Rivers to
Chairman Dawson. Mr. Reid undertook to keep us up to date if he heard
anything in this regard.
6. Met with Phil Kelleher, House Aged
Services Committee staff briefly and from the discussion with him it was
perfectly clear that he fully understands the basic aspects of the McNamara-
Soviet ABM statement and has no problems with the facts. He did indicate
that the Committee would need the paper earlier requested by Mr. Blandford.
7. Mr. Michaels, House Appropriations Com-
mittee staff, visited the Agency and received about a 15-minute briefing on
the Soviet ABM situation from Abbot Smith and Howard Stoertz. Mr. Michaels
understood this situation after the briefing and had no problem with it. He
will speak to Chairman Mahon upon his return next week to see if Mahon
wishes any briefing from the Agency. Thereafter, Mr. Michaels was
briefed for about an hour and a half by Mr. John Clarke on the Agency
planning, programming and budgeting system.
8.1 1 Attempted to meet with Carl Marcy, Senate
Foreign Relations Committee staff, but missed him several times and will
plan to see him tomorrow.
9.1 ) Prepared a short memorandum on former
Congressman Jed Johnson (D., Okla.) in response to a request from the
DDCI and handcarried it to the office of the DDCI.
