Systems Availability: Attached is the Systems Availability Report. 2. The Ruffing Center had a moderate week. On Wednesday a faulty Telex disk controller caused a loss of all systems except VM for at least an hour, and OCR for 82 minutes. Thursday was an excellent day. Friday JES and Batch lost an hour due to a bad cable, which was replaced. Saturday JES and Batch lost 112 minutes due to a bad card in a channel. The PDP Graphics Interface Controller failed on Monday, causing almost all TADS users a 6.5 hour loss of service; OLTA also lost 3.3 hours due to a software problem in OLTA. STAT 3. The Special Center had a fair week. The memory on an IBM 370/158 failed many times, causing numerous outages of DDO applications from Wednesday through Monday. The latest repairs appear to have been successful. CAMS lost several hours this week, due solely to CAMS software; the longest CAM outage was on Friday, STAT with 104 minutes lost. 4. Test of the new backup generators was conducted by HEB on 26 April. ODP computer centers were isolated from the test by transferring Vepco power to a diesel generator and later back to Vepco with no problems to the ODP centers. 5. Procurement action was initiated to procure 24 interim 3350 disk spindles. This action is being processed on a priority basis by ODP and OL/ADP&EB due to the serious shortage in online storage space brought on by the delay in the 3880 technology. 6. The IBM 4331 GIMINI Development System was relocated from the Ruffing Center GC03 Point area to 1D16 on 28 April. Reinstall- ation by IBM was scheduled to be completed on 1 May. Comten 2 3690 is now in production. There is only one for the Comten channel interface. 8. A software fix has been installed for the Comten channel problem which has been causing VM hung users. Comten has supplied the software fix while they are working on an engineering change STAT STAT 9. A new sysgen has been installed on Comten 3; this recon- figuration was required to change addresses for the GIM master console. 10. Two Hetra 3780 printers were installed in the OER Registry for use with the Message Routing System. Due to insufficient power, one of the printers is inoperable. As the system is in a parallel mode with the CDS hardcopy system, OER does not appear concerned over the large backlog of print at the end of the day. STAT into the problem, but so far it looks like just bad tapes. 11. The nightly SANCA jobs have been plagued with tape errors STAT during the last week. Almost every night one of the jobs in the stream abends with an I/O error on a scratch tape. ED/MMB is looking 12. The Rosslyn Data Conversion Section was visited, on Thursday, by the DDCI, Admiral Inman. He was given a tour of the area and showed an interest by asking a lot of questions. STAT 13. The Insurance Monthly Alpha report, currently printed on the 360/20, will now be printed on the Xerox 9700 in GC03. This change will also eliminate the need to decollate the 3 copy report. STAT STAT 14. SPD and ED are planning to proceed to Phase III testing of VM/SP on the 3033 MP. 0 STAT 15. On Monday, 27 April, approximately 30 individuals attending the Introduction to Information Systems toured the Ruffing Center. 0 16. The 4C data base will be installed on GIMPRODUCTION during the weekend of 2-3 Ma . This is in support of Phase I of this STAT application.
