Approved For Release 2004/05/05 : CIA-RDP69B00369R000200020037-2 SECRET 13 March 1967 SIGNIFICANT REQUESTS FROM THE SENATE FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE SINCE 1965 26 January 1965 The Director briefed the Committee on Soviet military posture and the economic situation in the Soviet Union. 1 February 1965 Various officials debriefed Carl Marcy after his travel of last year. 5 February 1965 Advised the staff regarding a question posed by Senator Lausche on Soviet gold reserves. 8 February 1965 Responded to a staff request prompted by an article by Jack Anderson alleging Chinese Communist spying ' M n exico 19 February 1965 Discussed with the staff various aspects of a statement attributed to the Chairman regarding the Vietnam coup. These had been associated with the Director's prior briefing. 9 June 1965 25X1 Discussed with the staff various aspects of our making available a copy of the TV film "The Science of Spying. " It was decided this would serve no useful purpose. Discussed with the staff a Collier's article concerning assertions that the FBI was assuming CIA functions in Latin America. 25X1 19 November 1965 Talked with the staff regarding a security leak from the Agency's briefing on the Dominican Republic. 25X1 21 February 1966 Mr. Helms met with Carl Marcy by way of follow up on prior discussions with Mr. Crockett of State Department. 22 February 1966 Chairman Fulbright visited the Agency for breakfast. Talked with Pat Holt regarding his suggestions for a 25X1 meeting of Lincoln Gordon, State Department, and an Agency designee with the Latin America Subcommittee. Provided the staff with a copy of the Director's letter to the Chairman regarding a CIA Subcommittee of the Foreign Relations Committee. Received from the staff a desk-type model of a Soviet Sputnik for analysis. Discussed with Carl Marcy the subject of alleged Agency use of Fulbright Scholars. The Director appeared before the Committee in connection with his letter to the editor of the St. Louis Globe Democrat. They discussed Vietnam and the Director's appearance before the Committee next year. 3 February 1967 The Director briefed the Disarmament Subcommittee. 13 February 1967 Briefed Bill Bader on Morocco, Iran and Pakistan. 15 February 1967 Made available to Carl Marcy the transcript of the Director's testimony before the Committee on 25 and 28 February 1966 for the purpose of checking the 25X1 DCI's statements regarding domestic operations.
