Concurrence in the Declassification of
NSAM 111.
Attached is my recommendation regarding
the response to Tom I atirner's 20 July note
requesting our concurrence in the declassifica-
tion of NSAM 111. As you will see, this
recommendation is in the shape of a memo-
randum to Latimer which, if you approve, can
be transmitted as written. We checked with
2 Issrs. Colby and prior to writing the
memo.
From a political standpoint, this might not
be a propitious time to declassify the 22
November 1961 NSAM, but that is a matter for
the White House to worry about. From the
Agency standpoint, nothing in it would now be
regarded as sensitive from our parochial per-
spective or damaging to our current operations.
