Approved For Release 2?2'qFDP61 S007I0A(@)Kg0030137-1 25X1 Copy,,, of 4 29 March 1957 MEMORANDUM FOR: Project Director SUBJECT: AQUATONE Coverage in Regar Soviet Open Sky Proposal 1. Attached hereto is a map with overlays prepared by Art Lundahl showing the line of the Iron Curtain with two 500-mile strips on either side. East of the Iron Curtain he has indicated coverage by AQUATONE. The extent of that coverage reveals how little additional photography the United States Government might obtain access to in the event the Soviet's Open Sky Proposal for a 500-mile strip on either side of the Iron Curtain might be accepted. The western side of the Iron Curtain 500-mile strip would indicate the installations of whatever significance of importance to us which would be revealed to the USSR by its Open Sky Proposal. 2. This was prepared on Art's initiative for such use as it might be. I told him that I thought you would be interested in this and that it might be of some use to General Truscott who is our representative on the Stassen Disarmament Committee. 25X1A JAMES Q.
