Tactical Air Command and 1st Tactical
Fighter Wing
1. Action Requested: We would be pleased if you-
could pass on to General Dixon an expression of our
thanks for the cordial reception given our people during
a recent visit and--above all--for the stimulating
agenda that was arranged for them.
2. Background: Last April, General Dixon,
Commander oofTAC invited us to have several of our
Warsaw Pact air analysts visit Langley Air Force Base
for the purpose of improving their understanding of
tactical air operations.
3. On 16 and 17 May we took advantage of Dixon's
generosity. Eight of our analysts spent two very infor-
mative days talking to staff and operations personnel in
TAC Headquarters and in the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing.
They were also gi:-:,-1"the opportunity to observe an
operational read~,_ss inspection in progress and kick a
.few tires on the flight line.
