Approved For Release 2003/05/05 : CIA-RDP80B01676R000400180021 June 2, 1964 It is a pleasure to inform you that Lyman B. Kirkpatrick, Jr. , whom you nominated for the President's Award for Distinguished Federal Civil- ian Service, has been selected by the President to receive the award. A public announcement to this effect will be made soon after your receipt of this letter. The award will be granted by the President in a ceremony tentatively scheduled to take place at the White I-louse on June 22 at 12:00 noon. Will you please make arrangements for Mr. Kirkpatrick to be present? His family and close friends, up to a total of twelve persons, are cordially invited to attend the ceremony. Our plans provide for you to accompany Mr. Kirkpatrick and present him at the ceremony. Since a citation will be read concerning his achievements, I believe it would be best if your presentation remarks were confined to a few sentences which highlight personal background that you believe would be of special interest to the President. Appropriate officials of your agency, up to seven, are also invited to attend the ceremony. A list of the persons who will attend the ceremony ana their relationship to the award winner should be sent to Mr. John W. Macy, Jr. , Executive Secretary, Distinguished Civilian Service Awards Board by June 18. Sincerely yours, ack Valenti Special Assistant to the President Honorable John A. McCone Director of Central Intelligence Washington, D. C. d4ZA---' Approved For Release 2003/05/05 : CIA-RDP80B01676R000400180021-8
