25X1
1. Met with Representative Porter Hardy,
Jr. , (D. , Va.) and discussed with him the Foreign Affairs quarterly
article "The Faceless Vietcong", by George Carver. Mr, Hardy
thanked me for our courtesy and indicated that he was quite interested
in the content of the article,
2. Received a call from Security,
relaying a message that DIA had contacted his office with a request that
he ascertain whether the Agency had any objection to the Army Map
Service briefing six members of the House Appropriations Committee.
I talked with Robert Michaels, of the House Appropriations Committee
staff, about this request. In this and subsequent conversations with
Michaels and Thomas, it was determined that the Army is planning to
invite several members of this Gommittee to a briefing which will include
information in special codeword categories. Since Michaels had been
alerted to this and inasmuch as has no specific request at
least until the individual members are i enti ied, we will do nothing .
further on this at this time. (It is noted here that Chairman Mahon and
Mr. Michaels are bath aware of the Agency's desire to take the members
of the CIA Subcommittee on a tour of the NPIC facilities, )
