7. Talked with Miss Ethel Low, Personal
Secretary to Senator Robert C. Byrd (D. , W. Va. ), about the prospect
of the Senator's paying a visit to the Agency with specific reference
to a breakfast meeting. Miss Low said that Senator Byrd made it a
practice not to accept breakfast appointments since he reserved this
part of the day to be with his family. However, she said she was sure
the Senator would like to come out to our building at some other time.
She doubted, however, that this could be done before the end of the
session. I am to 'be back in touch with her within the next few days.
8. Attempted to see Congressman Marsh
to discuss his suggested list of House members for an Agency visit.
The Congressman was tied up on the floor, however, and I will arrange
to see him at a later date.
9. Met with Mr. Paul Goulding, Assistant
to Senator Pell, who advised that he had talked to the Senator and that
the Senator would like very much to meet with the Director during next
week but will be unable to make breakfast. I will arrange a time for
a luncheon meeting with his appointment secretary.
10. Mr. C. Rodney Smith and
met during the day w-itli airman eig an, epres
Rodino, Moore, Cahill, and Mr. Cline, House Immigration and
Nationality Subcommittee, and with Mr. Neil Larry, Immigration and
Naturalization Service, on H. R. 14545. See Memorandum of Record
