Approved For Rase 2002/05/09 : CIA-RDP91-00682RQW200080052-8 Log Entries - 23 April 1953 1. In discussion with Mr. Sprankle, Chief Clerk of the House Appropriations Committee, regarding CIA bmlget hearings on 27 April. Sprankle indicated that there would be six or seven members present plus himself and Mr. Orescan and a Committee stenographer. I in- formed Sprankle personally and unofficially that in my opinion the presence of a stenographer was unnecessary and would serve to limit operational details which we were preparing to give the Committee. I also informed him that I would consider it preferable if only one staff man were present. STATINTL 2. informed me that he had received a call from General Moore, Defense Department Liaison with the Appropriations Committee. General Moore stated that Senator Bridges desired to show copies of the Katyn Massacre film to his constituents in New Hampshire, ?,/ and Moore volunteered to ascertain whether CIA could make the film available. With the approval of Mr. Dulles, I informed Mr. King of Senator Bridges' office that CIA had both a Russian and a German ver- sion of the film but that these versions were classified because of the manner in which they had been obtained. However, I told him that there were believed to be unclassified versions in the Library of Con- gress, the Navy, and Congressman Madden's office. He said he would check these sources and let me know if he needed additional assistance. Approved For Release 2002/05/09 : CIA-RDP91-00682R000200080052-8
