During the first week in July 1952 very few shipments were made from Hong Kong to Communist China, although no less than 20 wagons3 of cargo entered Hong Kong from the mainland during that period. After the middle of July shipments in former amounts were resumed. 25X1 25X1 4. The former HUANG HAI (7806/3189)4, a steamship formerly owned by the Nationalist Government and owned by the Min Sheng (3046/3923), has been renamed the MEI TA (5019/6691) The Chinese Communists have covertly leased the ship through the Tai P?ing Yang (1132/1627/3152) Company5 to the Chieh Chffeng (2212/2052) Company. The ship has a gross tonnage of 2,400 tons and a net tonnage of 1,9900 tons, flies the Panamanian flag, and is worth US $200,000. On 23 July 1952 the MEI TA was on 25X1 her way from Hong Kong to Bangkok.
