8,000 to 10,000 Soviets working in three shifts (Soviet statements).

a. About 80 electric motors, 60 cm in diameter, per shift.
b. Crankshafts 60 cm long for two or three-cylinder engines.
c. Straight shafts, 4 to 5 cm in diameter and about 2 to 2.5

instruments in the giie of 60 x 60 x 20 cm and similar to radiatore
for Motor vehicles were packed in these boxes.

When asked about the howling tone which was heard from the test.stand,
the Soviet f#reman in the carpentry stated that these sounds were caused
by jet engines which were sent by the Rybinsk branch plant to be
tested in the plant.
Activities at the engine test stands:

previously transmitted.
The data on the work force (8,000 to 10,000) seem to be exaggerated.
In prliviotzs reports the average estimate was 3,000, the maximum estimate
6.000. Also the data on the output, for instance 75 to 80 electric
motors per shift, are much too high although the production of such
motors Was probably the main output of the plant in July 1948.
According to previous.a1 reports, the testing of jet engines started in
the Fall of 1947.
