12. LIAISON Sent one copy each of
the most recent Agency publications entitled "Handbook of
Economic Statistics - 1977" and "Major Oil and Gas Fields of
the Free World" to Leonard Shambon, of the house Judiciary
Committee staff, per his request.
13. LIAISON Received a call from
Judy Frazier, ongressiona esearch Service, Library of Congress,
who requested the number of the "Polar Regions Atlas" so she
could request copies from DOCEX. I gave her the number.
14, LIAISON Per his request, sent
to Louis Luna, in the o. ice of Representative Robert E. Bauman
(R., Md.), a copy of "Directory of the Cuban Government and
Mass Organizations."

6. I (EMPLOYMENT REQUEST Received a
call from Miss Paris, in tie office of Representative James H.
Quillen (R., Tenn.), requesting three clerical and three
professional applications be sent to her attention. OLC
Registry was advised.
7. I ILIAISON Called Jon Hoistine,
on the staff of the Subcommittee on Asian and Pacific Affairs,
House International Relations Committee, to report on nn
earli:erinquiry about possible deployment of a Soviet air landing
divison on Sino-Soviet border. Mr. Holstine had indicated there
was such a report in the "Defense Foreign Affairs Daily," dated.
2 October 1978. I told Mr. Holstine that the opinion of our
experts was that no such deployment had taken place.
t/ 8. I ILIAISON Received a call from
Mike Epstein, Senate Solo c Committee on Intelligence staff, who
wanted to clarify newspaper accounts on the extent of theEpstcin
Committee's investigation of F- I indicated the only two areas the Committee was looking into were
whether there are any counterintelligence ramifications and
whether CIA did anything that was not routine in this investigation
Ile said he had tentatively concluded the answer was no on both
points.
Regarding his request for briefings on DDO collection
regarding human rights, I explained there was no central DDO
focus on this problem and Epstein indicated the staff would be
happy to hear about individual country examples instead of an
overall picture. He suggested that they be briefed on three
examples, one Soviet Bloc country; one Latin America country
and another Third world country.
9. I I LIAISON Called Hal Ford, Senate
Select Committee on Into igence staff, regarding the trip of
Senator Adlai Stevenson (D., Ill.) in November. I asked if' the
Senator would want any meetings with station personnel during
