25X1 1. The Director briefed the CIA Subcommittee
of House 'Appropriations. See Memorandum for the Record.

2. Called Representative Glenard P.
Lipscomb to give him information in. connection with his inquiry about
a TV program planned for Saigon by broadcast from airplanes. He said
my answer was enough for his purposes.
3. Talked with Senator Stuart Symington
who wished to check several points on our
paper. ? I also passed on to him an additional suggestion for the Castro
paper which had been proposed by Mr. FitzGerald.
25X1 4. Met with Mr. William Jordan, Administra-
tive Assistant to Senator Richard Russell, and returned to him the
correspondence. received from the

I Mr. Jordan tan a me or the return o
the correspondence and indicated that the office only desired it back for
file and that no response will be made by the Senator. He noted, in
passing, that in discussion with Mr. Darden, mention was made of the
incident a year ago of a letter to the Senator. No further action with
Senator Russell's office on this matter is desired.

25X1 5. Dropped by to see Robert Michaels,
House Appropriations Committee staff, and advised him that the Agency
was not involved in the alleged Cuban landing and assassination plot
as described in this morning's Washington Post.

mittee staff and former Agency employee, called and advised that he
had received good news from the brother of a former agent contact of

7. Met: with Mr. J.R. Blandford, Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee, and advised that the allegations in
this morning's Washington Post on the Castro assassination plot are
pure fabrications. I did not request any action on the matter on behalf
of the Director but only passed it on as a matter of information for the
Chairman or other Committee members who might raise the question.
9. Mr. Warner accompanied the Director
to a meeting with Senator Leverett Saltonstall (R., Mass.) which was
requested by the Senator. See Memorandum for the Record.
25X1 10. Talked to Senator Symington several
times during the day. The Senator indicated that he was adamant
against the position proposed by Senator Mansfield.
The Senator discussed his desire to place his comments in the

a matter of comment without reference to the Foreign Relations Committee
resolution. In discussion, nd the Washington Post item
I relating to the Castro charges were also discussed. After
consultation with Mr. Helms, draft statements on the last two items were
provided Senator Symington to supplement the material he already holds
