Approved For Release 2004/03/11 : CIA-RDP69B00369R000200010037-3 SECRET] Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Tuesday - 2 May 1967 Page 4 14. At his request, met with Representative Porter Hardy, Jr. (D., Va.) and his Administrative Assistant, Mr. Thad Murray. Mr. Hardy was very interested in today's Allen-Scott report relating to alleged testimony of General Robert Porter in executive session before the House Foreign Affairs Committee relating to Soviet shipping in Cuban waters. Mr. Hardy also noted that it had been reported separately in the press that there are strategic missiles in Cuba and that a column by Henry J. Taylor indicates that during Operation LANDFLEX in the Caribbean they were photographed from submarines and that there are a large number of Soviet submarines in the Caribbean. Mr. Hardy was advised that I had no information on the Soviet alleged testimony by General Porter on Soviet shipping but that the allegations concerning submarines and Soviet strategic missiles are unfounded. Mr. Hardy advised that he would appreciate such unclassified information that he might use in response to queries which he has already received from the press and that this topic might be worthy of a few minutes of consideration in Thursday's briefing. Mr. Hardy very much regretted his inability to accept the Agency's invitation to speak to the Mid-Career course on 19 May. Unfortunately he will be leaving the city for a talk for which he has already committed himself. 15.1 Met with Mr. Boyd Crawford, Staff Director, 25X1 House Foreign Affairs Committee, and received from him on a temporary loan basis a copy of the transcript of the hearings in executive session of Tuesday, A ril 2 containing In discussing the Allen-Scott report of today Mr. Crawford noted somewhat in jest that he guesses the Committee does have some "bad boys." 16. ket with Mr. John R. Bla.ndford, Chief Counsel, ouse Armed Services committee, and provided Agency employment brochures which he had requested. Mr. Blandford noted in passing the Pearson-Anderson treatment of the Greek crisis and noted that he assumed that the Director would be greeted with the Greek question in his meeting with the Subcommittee on Thursday. With regard to the TSD exposition, Mr. Blandford regretted that he would be unable to attend any time this week. SE Approved For Release 2004/03/11 C R69B00369R000200010037-3
