Approved FCC Release 2004/08/30: CIA-RDP80R0130R000500030037-0 April 21, 1966 Mr. Weldon James c/o The Courier -Journal Louisville, Kentucky Dear Mr. James: In yesterday's mail I received a letter from my parents enclosing a clipping of your 14 April editorial in the Courier -Journal. I want to offer my warmest congratulations on a very fine piece of writing and to express my admiration at your more than symbolic personal gesture attesting to the intensity and sincerity of the convictions you express so ably. Your prose in a model of hard-hitting argument, your supporting evidence well grounded in fact (a rarity these days), your logic cogent, and your case (to me) entirely persuasive ?- though here you were preaching to the already converted. I had the pleasure of meeting you. briefly, at the Bill Dudley dinner in the fall of 1953. If you ever get to Washington, please give me a call so nick up our conversation whore we loft it over twelve, years agor7 I congratulations on a courageous personal gesture and a first rate contribution to public enlightenment on the complex issue of Vietnam. As a small token of unsolicited esteem, I am enclosing copies of a couple of pieces I have done on this general area which you may find of interest. Sincerely yours, A5/ George A.
