It would be good if you and Pat could be with us at that time (or perhaps 5 minutes earlier) -- so that you would have an opportunity to meet our associates as they arrive. In short, we want you in the receiving line. Dinner will be served at 7:00, with your remarks coming after dinner -- perhaps around 8:00. We suggest approximately 20-25 minutes of keynote remarks, followed by questions and discussion with our associates. or- C Sec'y G on., hnYi CoC , Paris Appro d FI* etdbs @a?4f83fltOkitClAeR&W81O Q 5Aoo26 G400a~Rtales, Or. Approved For Release 2004/03/16 : CIA-RDP80M00165AO02500040026-6 Admiral Stansfield Turner -2- November 18, 1977 While you are, of course, encouraged to develop your comments in whatever way would be most appropriate, we feel that our associates would be very much interested in hearing your views on the current strategic positions of the United States in world affairs. In my own series of interviews around the world, it was abundantly clear that our allies on all continents look to the United States for leadership as never before. Therefore, what are our strengths, economically and politically, and our goals for the future? Also interesting, Stan, would be your thoughts on the increasingly important role which economic issues play in our overall foreign policy. A final suggestion is that you might wish to scan the enclosed roster of cor- porate, government, and diplomatic associates already registered--and there will be more. While the basic audience will be officials quite supportive of the U.S. policies, we also will have representatives of some nations whose poli- tical goals may differ quite substantially from those of the U.S. In.all, however, you will find it a very fine and compatible bringing-together of com- mon interests.
