Dear Mr. McCone:
At two year intervals, the Marine Corps conducts an Intelligence
Symposium at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. This year the
Symposium will be hosted by the Commanding General, Fleet
Marine Force, Pacific and held during the week of 7-11 December.
It will be attended by the Intelligence Officers, or their representa-
tives, from all major Marine Corps commands. This Symposium
provides a, forum for the discussion of matters of intelligence
interest in the Marine Corps, ranging from the development of
equipment to intelligence relationships with the National Intelligence
Community.
The relationship of the Central Intelligence Agency with the
military, both in contingency planning and in time of war, is of
great interest to Marine Corps officers. It would contribute to
the success of the Symposium and to a common understandill of
mutual problems and capabilities if
