SUBJECT: Status of Security Clearances of the Clark Committee
Task Force and Staff
1. This is in response to your memorandum of 3 March 1955
requesting clarification of the status of the security clearances
held by the Clark Committee Task Fores and members of the Staff.
2. The following members of the Staff have been granted Top
Secret clearances by CIA for access tot all CIA overt material and to
covert material on a "need-to-know" basis:
Colonel John J. Dubbelde Robert Foley
Colonel Eugene R. Miller Dorothy Davis
Brig. Gen. Terence J. Tully Gertrude Dixon
Colonel Richard A. Ericson Marie Smith
John R. McGruder
3, The following members of the Task Force are cleexed by CIA
for access on a "need-to-know" basis to all CIA material classified
through Top Secret and by the White House to consider the reports,
both overt and covert, which will be submitted by those members of the
staff and/or the Task Force who have made on-the-spot invvestiga.tions

Henry Kearns Ernest F. Hollings
4. The following Task Force and Staff members are cleared by
CIA for access to all CIA materl%1 classified through Top Secret and
by the White House for informatiani material, and reports pertaining
to all activities of CIA, both overt and covert:

Admiral Richard R. Cop-ally Colonel Herman.G. Lane

5. In addition to the clearnces--=specified above, both you
and Mr. Kearns were cleared to have access to CIS. activities, both
overt and covert, in connection with your trip to the Pacific area.
6. Several members of your Staff and members of the Task Force
have been granted special security clearances which permit access to
material produced by the National Security agency and I have requested
Captain Rufus Taylor, Executive Secretary and Security Officer, USCIB,
to provide you with a 1isL of their names.
