Approved For Release 2004/01/29 : CIA-RDP85B00803R000200010014-7 Memo to Ch/Intel Prod Staff,10 November 1966 OSI From: D/FMSAC Sub: The CHICOM Technological Base One major problem in Chicom m/s field has been to discern the outline of the native Chinese program from within the framework of the previously planned Sino-Sovitt effort. Later Chicoms appeared to be seriously interest in MRBM (500 to 1500 nm range) Amount of Intel FMSAC able to distil on research, development and testing of Chicom ballistic missiles not enough to satisfy national intel objectives. There is a large volume of available indirect information and a great deal of raw intelligence bearing on the missile problem which has not been exploited because of the great volume and the fact that the missile/space connotations are not obvious and must be searched for, and manpower had not to this time been available.
